Aleve for premenstrual and mid-cycle acne, Definitely worth a try, just don't OD on the stuff

I saw a thread in the Research forum recently about naproxen sodium (Aleve) ... said it was supposed to be very effective against premenstrual acne. link here I tried it out this month, and it worked very well for me. I took two Aleve tablets each day, one with breakfast and one right after dinner -- and I only got two tiny, tiny pimples the whole week. Normally during PMS week I would get a number of these little ones popping up on my nose and chin each day. I stopped taking a regular dose of the Aleve as soon my period started, although I have taken one at night a couple of times since. From what I understand, you really have to be careful not to take too much ... it can cause stomach bleeding and other unpleasant side effects. Has anyone else tried this? ------------ After almost 30 years of mild/moderate acne, I cleared up my skin (and eradicated years of sun damage) with a combination of a high-retinol gel called Green Cream and gentle exfoliation. Here's my regimen log Last fall, after intensive treatment with antibiotics for a bacterial infection, I developed a fungal infection called folliculitis ..... itchy red bumps along my hairline, forehead, and jaw. So now I fight folliculitis AND acne with: 10mg Accutane once every 4 days (maintenance dose, down from 10mg/day); Face Reality 8% and 15% mandelic acid serum; and Vivant Spin Trap C&E serum (contains propylene glycol). I use Kiehl's Abyssine Cream to moisturize when the weather gets cold and dry. STATUS: My skin looks great .... clear, soft, and glowing. Folliculitis is under control but can still be triggered by hormonal shifts.

How V-beam changed the appearance of my scar, Stay tuned for periodic updates

Hi, Well, I have finally been zapped with the V-beam. The treatment was actually quite interesting. I layed there with my eyes closed, and I saw these flashes of light... It was very cool, really. And it really wasn't painful at all. People have said that it kind of feels like a rubber band being snapped against your face. But I would compare it to having someone prick your face with a fountain pen. There was a slight burning sensation, though. But it wasn't that bad. My dermatologist increased the power of the V-beam two times, before she said she found the right setting. Now, my scar is a lot redder than normal and it is swollen. My dermatogolist said beforehand, that if it isn't purple after the treatment, a higher setting should be used. But the day of the treatment, after I had been zapped, I talked to the receptionist who also is knowledgable. And she told me that it wasn't necessarily the case that it would be purple. It could be purple, but not necessarily. Maybe I misunderstood my dermatologist, or maybe she didn't express herself accurately... I don't know. I use 'after sun cream' to keep the scar cool. Anyway, my dermatologist said that it will remain this red and swollen for a maximum of ten days. After that, I'll see a gradual improvement over a number of weeks. I'm going to return to the clinic after that and most likely get a second treatment, and possibly a third one after that. I'll keep you guys and girls posted about how it turns out. How I discovered the Regimen

I suffered with acne for all of my adolescence and early adulthood. I experimented with every conceivable acne treatment, including retin-a, antibiotics, cleocin-t, sulfur, salicylic acid, and several others. Some cleared me up a little bit, but not enough to satisfy me. The best of the products I tried was benzoyl peroxide, but it still didn't totally clear my skin. Roughly 10 years ago, at my wits end one evening, I stood holding a tube of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide while looking in the mirror at new pimples that had shown up that day and I felt pretty desperate. I decided "what the heck--I'm using a bunch of this stuff". I had nothing to lose, so I applied a lot more than usual, in a vain attempt to rid the new spots. I went to bed and hoped for the best. I woke up the next morning and my skin looked much better. I thought it must have been a fluke but day after day of using plenty of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide my spots faded. Over the following weeks, as I perfected the process, my skin finally cleared completely. Eager to share my success, I made this website. It's been rewarding watching the Regimen work for so many other people.
